I'd like to take a brief moment here to explain why paperback costs are so high for us indie authors publishing on Amazon...
Here's a peek at my screen when setting up the price for Stowaway's paperback.
The Orange highlight shows how much it costs simply to print the book.
The Green highlight shows the minimum I can sent the sale price for on the US Amazon site.
The Blue highlight shows the price I've chosen to sell this at.
And finally, the Pink highlight shows how much money I get from a single sale of the paperback version of Stowaway.
Essentially, I have to mark my paperback at $25 in order to see $5 of that sale.
Amazon takes $8 of the sale as their own profit.
I absolutely hate that I have to price my copy so high, but there's nothing I can do about it. I realize the base printing costs of this one are massive purely because the book is so large, and I do have some short stories coming up that will be available in paperback as well which won't be nearly as pricy, but I hope this gives a bit of clarity as to why my paperbacks are marked as high as they are.
I appreciate every single reader who steps foot into my worlds--whether you came via an EBook sale or Kindle Unlimited reads, but paperback sales have a very special place in my heart <3 It's amazing to think my book is out there, physically, on someone's shelf right now.
So if you want to show me some love with a paperback purchase, and you can afford to do so, please know it really means the world to me to have your support <3
